Depends on your beard length. Up to 5 mm stubble: you don't really need accessories for your beard yet, the beard bar is however useful to keep your sink clean after shaving or trimming. 5-20 mm: add a comb for styling and distributing balm or oil. 20 mm+: a brush becomes essential, only a boar-bristle brush distributes natural skin oils through the whole beard. They do two different things. A brush (boar bristle) distributes natural skin oils into every hair, nourishes and removes dead skin, it's a care step. A comb styles, separates hairs, distributes oil or balm evenly and gives a clean finish, it's a styling step. From 2 cm up, you want both: brush first, then comb.

Brush: every 1-2 weeks with warm water and a little shampoo, rinse, pat, dry bristles-down. Comb: weekly with lukewarm water and mild soap, pat dry, never leave in water (wood moves). Bar: rinse with cold water after each use and pat dry. Occasionally rub the cherry wood with a drop of beard oil to nourish and preserve the patina.
